Ah yes, the world-ending threat isn't concerning at all. Waiting for the southern front to fall is like waiting for a dam to break down before worrying about the flood. The only way to stop the monsters is by killing their king, but that would be made difficult by being unable to reach him. If the southern front falls, it would be virtually impossible to reclaim the land and reach the demon king. In other words, the end would become an inevitability as endless waves of monsters pour out.
